Broadleaf Cattails (Typha latifolia)
Oakes Quarry, Fairborn, Ohio
Long exposure has simply become one of my favorite modes of expression when behind the camera. On a particularly blustery day, a patch of broadleaf cattails resting near a water pond caught my attention. Their wispy back-and-forth movements around one another made for a dizzying arrangement that I knew had to be capture with a purposely slow shutter speed. This made for a perfect abstract in which the subject is still somewhat visible to the eye yet is appreciated for the blur of motion conveyed.
