Seepage Dancer (Argia bipunctulata)

This tiny damsel is one of several that is endangered in the state of Ohio. I knew this ahead of time whilst doing research on this location and was looking forward to photographing it. A lot of planning can go into an image, whether behind the computer learning bird calls, astrological events or damselfly times of year and habitat.

One of the first exposures I took of this beautifully colored damsel, I was quite excited to finally see one and to capture an image. The midday lighting proved to almost be more suiting as it displays the sky blue colors offset against the green foliage surrounding it. Odonata conservation is just as important as any other.
