Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea)
James Ranch Garden, Xenia, Ohio
"If we could see the miracle of a single flower, clearly our whole life would change." - Buddha
One of my personal favorite flowers to view and photograph. Coneflowers in general are likely to be found spread across acres of prairies and meadows during the summertime. However, I managed to find them being grown even in the smallest of botanical and cultivated flower gardens too.
Photographing wildflowers of any kind is like a hunt of sorts. I am typically looking for the most "photogenic" one out of the bunch or the best isolated one from the group. In this case, this tattered coneflower had the best view, despite some imperfections in the petals. And so I made the creative choice to single it out and give it some camera time anyways.
