"Three Sisters" White Oak Tree
Sugarcreek Metropark, Bellbrook, Ohio
"Trees exhale for us so that we can inhale them to stay alive. Can we ever forget that? Let us love trees with every breath we take until we perish.” - Munia Khan
One of the oldest trees in my area and in Ohio period, this familiar white oak tree was a sapling when Christopher Columbus made his first steps on America. The tree towers over the rest of the woodland, and anyone who chooses to stand underneath.
Two of the original Three Sisters are standing, as one was struck by lightning years ago. Photographing the tallest one of the trio was a bit of a challenge. A wide angle lens is essential to show every bit of this arbor treasure.
