Muddy Ground Leaf
Huffman Metropark, Dayton, Ohio
"Once the amateur's naive approach and humble willingness to learn fades away, the creative spirit of good photography dies with it. Every professional should remain always in his heart an amateur." - Alfred Eisenstaedt
Some of the best photos are ones that remove the extra and focus on the simple. For this moment, the image was right beneath my feet. Almost stepping across and ruining the composition, I set my tripod and camera pointing straight down.
I made a deliberate choice to convert the frame to a square crop after during post processing. Some slight adjustments to contrast and dodging/burning were made to bring the leaf out more from the muddy surroundings. Overall, simple but effective.
