Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis)
Caesar Creek State Park, Waynesville, Ohio
"There is nothing ugly in nature. The seeming exceptions are simply facts of beauty we have not yet grasped." - Freeman Tilden
The light hits the subject just right, a dragonfly perched on a nearby tree snag. With its' backside turned toward me, the beautiful color and structure of their fragile body becomes the focus. I have learned with time to never overlook a single thing in nature. All of it is beautiful and worth a second look.
As always, a macro style photo was in dire need to crop in close to the dragonfly. 300mm was a sufficient focal length to grab the attention of the viewer. Shooting handheld at 1/200 with f/8 provided enough light in the camera and lens. The shallow depth of field creates a blurred background with puts more visual interest on solely the subject itself. Slow down and look for these little critters wherever possible! Appreciate them.
