Great Miami River Autumnal Scene
Taylorsville Metropark, Vandalia, Ohio
"Landscapes are nature's natural movie theatres.” - Anthony T. Hincks
Varying the shutter speed used for this long exposure, I aimed to show the path of the leaves. The abstract look and swirls as they flowed down the Great Miami River was my goal. The background is the best example of this practice as a "vortex" is made in the colors. The stone is once again a visual anchor point and a place for the eyes to rest on. Without it, this image would a blurry mess and look like a mistake.
The incredible fact is that the shutter speed can be increased or decreased to make the swirls appear more blurred and painterly. The Great Miami moves quite fast as was evident by these leaves. At a two second exposure, those fallen leaves were in a hurry for nowhere.
