Blue Sky / Pine Trees
Grant Park, Centerville, Ohio
"I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, "This is what it is to be happy."” - Sylvia Plath
Emitting a deep azure sky, this simple landscape would look calming framed on a wall. Blue skies typically spell the end of a day for landscape photographers. While the lighting can leave something to be desired, I try to make the most of what is given. In this case, I had the sun against my back as it made this collection of trees aglow. The area around was full of young trees in a nursery-type setting. No risk of overexposing the sky, it was this bright blue mixed with clouds.
I was looking to capture the feeling of this being a sunny yet cold day. Photographs should give off the ideas that the creator intended. Simply put, they should make a statement, and put the motivations and passion on full display for the viewer. I look for pleasing color, lines, textures and subjects to name a few. Yet this is essentially art; YOU decide what you want to say.
