Backlighting! This simple but effective lighting powerfully illuminates these grasses off to the side of the trail. The sun rose in a beautiful display of vibrant orange as fog and mist was carried across these open spaces.
However the sun had risen high enough in the sky to make lighting situations unpleasant. Highlights can be blown out and overall exposures become washed out. This shot was an experiment in working the scene and positioning myself just right to make it all work together for a photograph.
