The Beaver Creek
Fairborn Community Park, Fairborn, Ohio
"Come to the woods, for here is rest." - John Muir
This is one (of many) images that were afterthoughts. I slept on them for many months then after digging around my backlog for old photos I glossed over, this was an example. Fairborn Community Park has a sprawling wood and wetland habitat in the farthest point north. This landscape shot was taken from a bridge crossing the Beaver Creek.
On second thought, I am in love with the strong use of green throughout. This was late summer and the foliage had so much punch to it! Normally summer woodlands are very same-y and dull, but this morning shot had something special going for it. The leading line and s-curve of the water leads you out to the end of the image. A fallen tree trunk in the mid to foreground helps anchor the rest of the shot, and a path on the right gives another sense of perspective. Overall an image that grew on me with time.
