Fire Pink (Silene virginica)
Bill Yeck Park, Centerville, Ohio
"A garden to walk in and immensity to dream in--what more could he ask? A few flowers at his feet and above him the stars." - Victor Hugo
The vibrancy of this scarlet herbaceous perennial plant caught my eye in the shaded woodland. The warmth of the sun casted a glare on the greenery surrounding the beautiful plant life and was one such subject I was keen on photographing.
For my first set of images made, I used a macro styled approach to it. The tiny size of these herbs grow unbranched in large groups of stems. A popular target with hummingbirds, the bright red catches their eyes even from a distance away. Look for these beautiful blooms during late Spring and early to mid summer.
