An absolute stunner of a bird and my first really close look at one. That striking yellow stood out in the green foliage. My placement was not the best and I was unsure if I could move without scaring it away. For that reason is why there is tree branches in the way, however the shot is still useable for the eye contact made with the viewer.e
This isn't the most "picture perfect" photo I've taken, but it surely captured the excitement in the moment well. The high noise and visual grain is apparent, with an ISO level of 10,000. Shooting handheld was all I had to work with, as I needed to be on the move. Fortunately camera shake wasn't too much of a problem at 1/800 of a second. An aperture of f/6.3 was wide enough to let enough light into the shaded riverside woodland. Checking a new warbler off your life list is quite an accomplishment, and this photo is a simple reminder of that moment.
