John Bryan Cascading Waterfall
John Bryan State Park, Yellow Springs, Ohio
"Being in the moment is worth a thousand pictures."
The best aspect of photographing long exposures of cascading waterfalls is picking apart all the smaller details present in the scene. For this image, I adjusted my camera on the tripod to focus on the base of the waterfall, making it the central subject. The possibilites imaginable are endless here, waterfalls to me could be the most versatile nature subject possible.
I employed the use of polarizer (CPL) and neutral-density (ND) filters to remove reflections on the wet rocks and lengthen the exposure to further blur the water, respectively. There was such power and might in the water being thrown about that I left the area after over an hour later to my ears ringing. Definitely worth it for some of my favorite long exposures ever.
