Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura)
Beavercreek, Ohio
"It's a constant, continuous, spectacular world we live in." - Robert Irwin
The freshly cut green grass of a summer day gave way to birds returning to the seed feeders. The daylight hours beginning to wane, and this dove was sitting underneath the birdseed foraging. That last big of sunlight was very diffused behind a cloud allowing to evenly expose the subject and bring it to the attention of the viewer. Overall the colors and tones match very to provide a calming scene, rather than a heavily contrasted and choatic one.
Looking or hearing above in curiosity, I captured this image laying flat on the ground to ensure a shallow depth of field. Only the bird itself and the ground it is standing on is in sharp focus. Photos such as this are far more interesting than standing over the subject. The eye-to-eye level allows you to see the world from their point of view.
