Common Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) & Common Blue Violet (Viola papilionacea)
Beavercreek, Ohio
"You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep Spring from coming." - Pablo Neruda
Some of my favorite photo shoots happen to be close to home. In this case, I took a couple pieces of gear out to my side and backyard to photograph some common weeds and small flowers. A macro extension tube, zoom lens and a single camera entertained my creative psyche for an hour or two.
This top-down perspective is one of my favorite to employ on plant life. The view works well when the "face" has a lot to say, and so I decided for this specific image to show two different species at once, the all-too-common dandelion of yards becomes more beautiful and interesting at this magnification, as well as the smaller violet blooms beside it.
