Indigo Bunting (Passerina cyanea)
Bill Yeck Park, Centerville, Ohio
"He is richest who is content with the least, for content is the wealth of nature." - Socrates
The rich song of spring. While not all birds sing, many have calls and other vocalizations they use for various purposes. A bunting such as this can be very vocal particularly in spring. A hot and sunny afternoon visit to the meadow and prairies where these songbirds would be seen. I saw dozens of them flit to and from the surrounding treeline out into the open of the meadow.
One could hear their songs loud and clear as they moved back and forth. I used this time to position myself facing towards the grasses and small tree branches. Using the draw distance between subject focusing point and background, I could drop out the background from focus. This will always produce a cleaner and professional image to view. Once learning their habits simply by field observation, I could photograph them more easily.
