Pine Forest Wind Damage
Glen Helen Nature Preserve, Yellow Springs, Ohio
"The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness." - John Muir
This beautiful and expansive tract of land tucked away in the nature preserve is one of my favorite spots. The calm and stillness of wandering through this pine forest; no planes, no cars, just echo of birdsong. Light had no chance of peering in the deeply shaded sections of this arboreal treasure.
As you can tell, a very windy storm came through and destroyed a majority of the trees. This shot was more for documentating the aftermath as I saw it a couple days after. Spotty lighting was now apparent as it pooled in from above. I wanted to imply that some trees still stood and others fell. This was not a logging operation; this was nature fighting against nature.
