Meadow View
Grant Park, Centerville, Ohio
"Nevertheless there are certain peaks, canons, and clear meadow spaces which are above all compassing of words, and have a certain fame as of the nobly great to whom we give no familiar names." - Mary Hunter Austin
My first visit to the diverse and beautiful Grant Park was during late winter. The winding woodland trails led me up and down hills, through pine trees, around a wetland pond and into the thick of meadows. This early afternoon composition came after spending all morning exploring this new-to-me area.
A rather simple take on a landscape scene. I used the puffy white clouds above, the dead grasses below and an isolated tree to create the image. Some may say meadow and prairie habitat can be a little dull during the winter, however I make the most of what is already there. Although there is a lack of stunning butterflies and wildflowers, it more than makes up for it in sparrows and landscapes like this.
