Yellow Coneflower (Ratibida pinnata)

"To be a better nature photographer, be a better naturalist. The more you know about nature, the more you will see to photograph. Develop a deeper compassion for the world around us, and live by an ethic of concern for the subject matter." - John Shaw
Macro photography to me is the art of bringing the smallest this world has to offer and enlarging it. A small coneflower such as this subject is able to fill the frame whereas it would be impossible without a macro setup. The soft morning light gave a clean and almost "dreamy" look to the image that I enjoy very much.
The cost of entry to enter this niche of photography is very affordable. You can get started using an extension tube to fit between the lens and camera. Eventually you may look to get a dedicated macro lens, typically with focal lengths around 100mm and 200mm in some cases. Once you're set up, then you're ready to enter a whole new world of image-taking.
