The Sugar Creek
Bill Yeck Park, Centerville, Ohio
"Good composition is composition that looks good." - John Shaw
Composition is simply how objects in the frame are laid out. In my opinion there is no "perfect" way to set up a scene; only better or worse ways. The beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder. In this image I could've set it up with the creek crossing stone slabs to be perfectly level and parallel. I instead decided upon a diagonal framing in the final result.
To add a splash of color, the fallen leaves "warmed" up the temperature of what would be an otherwise colder feeling image. To me, the photo evokes a calm and serene emotion that I had taking it. It was a solitary Autumn morning where I had almost the entire park to myself. Rain came in on and off as I crossed creeks and muddy footpaths. Images like these are memories of times I opted to get outside.
